Webinar Description

Presenter: Tara Arnold, PhD

Eating disorders are on the rise in the world. During the pandemic, people were left alone with food and oftentimes turned to food for comfort and a sense of connection. The treatment of eating disorders has evolved, as the knowledge in the field has become more scientific. Knowing the most up-to-date treatment and best practices for eating disorders is part of ethical treatment. We will explore the appropriate treatment team to use with eating disorder clients, the use of inpatient level of care, and current effective eating disorder treatments. We highlight CBT, imagery and metaphor, as well as DBT in the training to give voice to the tools available to clinicians.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify the members of the treatment team for eating disorders.

  • Participants will list the elements involved in the inpatient level of care for eating disorders.

  • Participants will establish applicable metaphors to use when conceptualizing eating disorder recovery.

  • Participants will identify DBT techniques applicable to eating disorder treatment.
