Webinar Description

Presenter: James Bell III, DSW

Everyone, regardless of race, can have unconscious racial bias. When social work professionals allow these internal biases to become reality it impacts our ability to make a difference and limit what we believe people are capable of. To confront implicit bias, practitioners must examine their own biases they bring to their practice. This session will give participants the tools necessary to increase self-awareness and avoid personal biases when working with a diverse clientele.

Learning Objectives

  • 1. Recognize conscious and unconscious bias.

  • 2. Develop tools to identify how bias may be impacting your social work practice.

  • 3. Identify when to think more critically and consciously when making decisions.
